CAN I KICK IT? Football Funday Fundraiser – Team

4 in stock

Thank you for supporting Richard in achieving his goals; to receive specialized medical help in Germany; stimulating his immune system to recognise what work there is to do; resulting in his body kicking “Daddy’s Brain Bug” into touch.  A health hattrick…

Together we can help Richard to answer the question: Can I kick it?

  • When? 11am, Sunday 4th June, 2023 (finishing 2-3pm).
  • Where? Ashtead Recreation Ground, Barnett Wood Lane entrance (behind Ashtead Football Club, KT21 2BZ).
  • Who? Funday – for the whole family / Football – for anyone who wants to play, 14yrs+
  • What’s there? Football clubhouse open for refreshments & facilities (changing / showering / toilets / bar), stands to raise money for Richard (incl. barbecue, raffle, face-painting, sports massage).
  • How? Funday – simply join us on the day or to enter a team into the tournament book your place here.
  • Why? Richard needs to raise £250,000.00 to complete the course of treatment recommended for his inoperable brain tumour at a state-of-the-art clinic in Germany. Initial treatment sessions have shown some promise, but the course must be completed.  Here is Richard’s story so you understand better the challenges he and his family have been facing – and what we can do to help.

Still wondering if you can make it – so you can help Richard make it?

Yes, you can!

Secure your team’s place by booking here – just add your team name in the “ADDITIONAL INFORMATION” section when you go through to checkout:

The After-Party:

For those who’d like to join us, there is an open invitation back to The Leg of Mutton & Cauliflower pub in Ashtead, after the tournament (from around 3pm) where Adam Wheatley will be playing with his band, The Sausage Monkeys. Proceeds from the bar will be donated toward Richard’s fundraising efforts.

If you or your business would like to have a stand at the event, offer products or services for our raffle, sponsor the event or have some other involvement, please contact us here.

We’ve kept the cost of joining the competition low and accessible so we can just enjoy a fun day out with as many people present as possible.  In that same spirit of fun, family, friendship and fundraising, we’d like to encourage some healthy competition in raising sponsorship for games won / goals scored.  So there will be a winning team in the football tournament and a winning team in the sponsorship tournament.  More details will follow when you have booked your place.

If you’d like to book an individual place, please click here.

Competition Details:

The competition will involve a group stage where teams play all other teams in their group.  The winners and runners up of those groups will go through to the knock-out phase of the tournament, which will work through quarter finals, semi-finals and the final.

This is a fun tournament so players can be of any ability and can be of any age (14 or above) or gender. We have to decide a minimum age to keep participants safe, but teams of adults-only, children-only or mixed teams are all allowed.

The pitches are extremely small, the games are scheduled to be 10 minutes in duration, and outfield players are not allowed inside the keeper’s area.  Throw ins, corners and goal kicks are as standard. Keepers are allowed outside the area, but may only handle the ball inside the designated penalty area. If any of the knockout matches are a draw at full time they will go immediately to penalties.  All participants and spectators attend at their own risk.
